Do you recognize this face????
What a glorious reunion!! We always enjoy the luxury of basking in the good company of all our favorite people. The grandkids keep surprising us with all their new discoveries that come with the way they just keep growing up. What amazing little people they are. And all our children just don't seem like children anymore. It's almost as though we get to sit back while they take care of us. The weather was beautiful, the scenery gorgeous and the good time never ended...not even when we got home and received a phone call to meet with the stake president. So Ace called your Dad to serve as the high councilman representing the Spanish branch. Sunday was our first day, and it looks like an exciting and challenging adventure.
Martha says THANKS
What an enjoyable reunion! Thanks to everyone who traveled so far to come! It was wonderful seeing everyone! I think Mom wins the "most-exotic-and-best-tasting-food" award! Mel wins the "traveled-the-most-miles-under-the-most-excruciating circumstances." Summer wins the "most prepared with everything" award. Becca, I'm just excited that you were able to make it to the reunion and leave all in one piece! Matt and Mk win the "best-tasting-breakfast" award. Their blueberry pancakes were so good they ran out. Take note that they had the only meal that was gobbled up so fast they had to make more! Jeremy and Andy win the "California Surfer" award, and Chris just wins an award because he's the oldest. I hope I covered everyone--if not, just remember my jr. high band and chorus motto: "Everyone is a winner!"
Some of my memories include watching the kids play on the beach. With the new baby around I've really started noticing how Lyle and other children experience things. I was enraptured with the kids chasing the waves and then running away from them screaming with the delight the whole time. I loved seeing them roll around in the sand and get it everywhere! It was fun building sandcastles with them and watching how precise they were in rounding off the castle's edges.
It was also fun to see Mk's kite fly and daringly dive down towards the ground, and of course the kite would turn sharply upwards just as you thought it would crash land into the sand. The kite Dad bought and Matt flew was fun to watch (while there was wind). So the kites were cool.
Food was grand. The whole family wins the award of going an entire reunion without any beans at all! It's neat how fancy everyone gets with meals. Instead of regular sandwiches on bread, Mel and Andy got that gourmet bread and meats. All the meals were so yummy. I loved all the food-- as my waistline can attest to.
My favorite part was just being around the people I love most. Things right now are pretty stressful for Jeremy and me as we try and prepare to move. I'm scared out of my wits to pack everything up and move 3,000 miles away. It was nice to get a chance to (try) and forget about the stress back in Turlock and relax with my family on the beach. Thanks for coming.
